Registered provider
The NDIS, or National Disability Insurance Scheme, helps eligible people with disability access support that can make everyday life safer, easier and more independent.
NDIS funding can be used for supports that relate to a participant’s disability, daily living needs and personal goals. This may include personal care, help at home, transport, community access, therapy-related supports and other approved services.
For personal care, the NDIS may help fund support with routines such as hygiene, dressing, grooming, eating and drinking, mobility, continence support, overnight care or other daily living tasks listed in a participant’s plan.
Personal care is different for every person. These are common supports that may be included, depending on the person’s routine, goals, funding and preferences.
Help with getting ready for the day, including showering, bathing, washing, brushing teeth, freshening up and feeling clean and comfortable.
Support with choosing clothes, getting dressed, brushing hair, grooming and feeling ready to leave home, attend appointments or receive visitors.
Private, respectful support with toileting routines, continence needs, personal hygiene and comfort throughout the day.
Help with setting up meals, prompting, opening packaging, cutting food where appropriate, drinking support, simple meal preparation and clean-up where funded.
Support workers can remind the person when it is time to take medication and help them follow their usual routine. Any medication support must match the person’s plan, consent and care requirements.
Help getting in and out of bed, chairs or vehicles, changing position and moving safely through everyday routines.
Support with comfort-focused skin routines, pressure care needs and overnight personal care where this is included and funded in the person’s plan.

Answers about NDIS personal care support, funding, referrals and how Forever Carers can help.
NDIS personal care support is help with daily personal routines that may be difficult, tiring or unsafe to manage alone. This can include showering, hygiene, dressing, grooming, toileting, mealtime support, mobility and getting ready for the day.
Personal care is commonly funded under Core Supports, often through Assistance with Daily Life. The exact support depends on the person’s NDIS plan, goals, funded supports and individual needs.
It can include morning and evening routines, showering, bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence support, help with eating and drinking, mobility, transfers, skincare and overnight personal care where funded.
Support workers can provide reminder-style medication prompts where appropriate, authorised and aligned with the person’s support plan. Any medication-related support must match the person’s care requirements, consent and relevant safeguards.
Support can often begin within a few days, depending on the person’s needs, suburb, worker availability, funding and any care requirements. The first step is a quick conversation so we can understand what is needed.
